I was taking a break, eating some food, opening up own3D to see if a StarCraft II player is playing, who used to stream on Twitch. After he switched to own3D, I didn’t bother to sign up for a new account until the moments ago.

Since I didn’t have an account, I always look up at the front page. But a thumbnail caught my eyes and the description confirmed what I saw, or should I say confirmed after I clicked in.

This kind of behavior I have seen lots of times on Justin.tv or Twitch. Every time I saw one, I entered the channel to report. Sometimes, the staff of Justin.tv acted very quick, the channel was already closed before I entered.

We can’t deny that the Internet is full of pornography. You may get some porn related entries just by searching a typical name or some word which you have never thought that has something to do with sex.

I looked around the page and couldn’t find a report button, so I signed up and there was still none! I have to use the contact form via Help link from bottom of page. Minutes later, the channel was gone. Not really sure if that’s me or the admin did notice.

Is Internet for porn? Maybe for some people, but definitely not for all. Can you watch or stream porn on Internet? My answer is firmly yes, but you can’t do like this streamer. To me this like another scenario I hate most, people talking politics in a place has nothing to do with politics at all, such as a video about animal on YouTube. I don’t distinct these, doing porn or politics at wrong place, it’s inappropriate.

If you read the chat in the screenshot, which I intentionally scrolled to that part to take the shot and it’s the main reason I am writing this post. The first one said

there might be underaged kids watching this shit…,

but the person was retorted by another person with arguments

They can also find [porn] if they can watch this. They have access to the internets and internet is for [porn].

Children can do that doesn’t mean they should. I remember this line “You can, but you may not” from a film.

If you have visited some game’s website, such as games involving blood spilling, you will be asked for birthday. Does that really prevent kids fake their birthday? I am afraid not. Does that mean those game publishers should just drop that birthday form? Of course not.

Yes, asking for birthday is a method to verify visitor’s age. Unfortunately, people tend to be dishonest whenever they see fit. To be perfectly honest, I don’t fill in those forms correctly. I am way past the legal age limit, so I randomly choose the date. My excuse is I know what that form for and I am old enough and I do not want to spend time selecting correct date. See, people lie and convince themselves it’s okay to do so.

You can’t stop children doing what they shouldn’t, but that doesn’t mean you should stop preventing them. I don’t understand that retorting person’s logic. If everyone does petty crime, so I can do, too? If that person is an adult, then he or she should be old enough to know the right and the wrong; even not, certainly is old enough to learn the right and the wrong. (Sort of stealing the line of Arastoo Vaziri from the latest Bones episode) The sad truth is almost all of us know.

Regardless the accessibility of porn to kids, own3D is a website for streaming gaming, not for porn or any sexual content, there are websites for that content. Even own3D had primarily adult viewers, in case one wants to argue, you still shouldn’t do that, because it doesn’t permit such content1:

own3D reserves the right to decide whether Content or a User Submission is appropriate and complies with these Terms of Use for violations other than copyright infringement, such as, but not limited to, pornography, obscene or defamatory material, or excessive length.

That streamer was using people with porn to gain users, and this kind of people is terrible because they certainly knew it eventually would get banned. Somehow, they are like spammers.

As of writing to this point, that streamer seemed to sign up a new account already:

So sad.
