In the near future, dog can be licensed as driver. You can sit in car and eat your breakfast while your family dog drives you to work and drops your kids at school on the way. They can also pick up dry cleaning or grocery on the way back.

Okay, I was just kidding.

A SPCA in New Zealand has an unusual way to raise awareness and show people how intelligent dogs are. Next Monday, 7PM (NZDT, UTC+13), they will let a dog drive for real and broadcast live, whose name is Porter, 10 months old.

I know there are trained dogs which can dial emergency number via special device to contact emergency service for help, when their owners are in danger. Who knows, maybe someday, you will read news about an old guy has heart attack while driving, and his dog jump in (literally) and drive the car to hospital emergency room. Though it’s impossible without modifications.

This thing is interesting, although I am not sure it’s legal since Porter is probably only 15-year-old in human age at most, 16 can obtain learner’s license and drive with supervisor. He is underage. Oh wait, we are talking about a dog, ain’t we? Never mind. :D

Please don’t teach your dog driving at home!

Before I watched this video a couple of days ago, I didn’t know about this disease, Megaesophagus:

The owner in this video explained why their dog needs to stay in that box:

If the dog is diagnosed and this is only treatment, that is pretty sad because that is how the dog has to eat. 20 minutes in that chair, every meal. But they all have loving owners.
