“Alaska, the Last Frontier” as the opening for the popular television show, you might be familiar if you do watch the show. I think in the last few years, Alaska has gained quite publicity, maybe it’s because people is more aware of environment.

INDIE ALASKA by Alaska Public Media in partnership with PBS Digital Studios

I can’t recall which video from the INDIE ALASKA series I watched first, could be this mushroom hunting. I’d not think that mushroom could grow in Alaska, am so ignorant before, right?

I like the “indie” theme, the people and their professions or passions about something, seeing their day-to-day life and the world around them.

The video amazed me the most is this Whittier teacher and the town she lives in, or the building of entire town, which has very unique lifestyle. Everything is and can be found inside a building, that’s unthinkable to me until I watched the clip.

Stores like artist settling down for off the grid living, one running a roadhouse for the community. It’s different than what you see on the television, the people tell their own stories with their own voices.
