Three months ago, I read about making Baked Apple Chips1, now I finally made it with a tea using fruit that I didn’t even know the name.

Those berry-like fruit had relatively big pits, they looked like cherry, but I am not sure. Tasted pretty sour, that’s why I added sugar and I didn’t add more than those in the spoon in the photo below, probably a tablespoon at most.

The apple chips were crystal crispy when first cooled down, however, after a day or two, some were becoming soft and bendable, not crispy, they were like fruit leather in a way, though not chewy.

I didn’t add any sugar to the chips, and frankly you didn’t need to. Don’t know about tart apples, but the one I used, it turned into really sweet chips. Every chip I bit, it felt as if I was eating a spoonful of sugar. Probably because I didn’t eat much sugar.

Some baked apple chips were sprinkled with cinnamon commonly or some other spices. I didn’t have that, but I am sure it would taste good or it wouldn’t be on many recipes’ ingredients list.

I don’t have non-stick silicone mat, the baking tray was working well, nothing really sticky to the tray terribly. Just peel at first, once they are fairly dry, nothing will stick.

When they came out, still quite soft, but I could feel they were dry even quite pliable. Once they cooled down, firm and crispy.
